
Roger VanRaden was the youth pastor at Faith Baptist Church in Champaign, Illinois. He began sexually abusing a student when she was fourteen and continued to abuse her until she turned eighteen and reported the abuse to the police.
In a plea agreement, he pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal sexual assault. One count of criminal sexual assault and another of criminal sexual abuse were dismissed. The prosecution recommended twenty-three years, but he was sentenced to fifteen. Seven for one count, eight for the other, to be served consecutively. He must serve 85% of his sentence before being eligible for parole.
