Emanuel Rivera was a police officer in Vernon, NJ. He is a member of the New Jersey Conservative Party. That is where you go when you think the Republicans are too liberal. While working as a police officer and in uniform he pursued sexual relationships with women, abusing his power as a police officer to coerce women.
He pleaded guilty to two counts of conspiracy to commit official misconduct. This is much less than the original charges of attempted sexual assault, criminal sexual contact, and official misconduct.
He was sentenced to two five year terms for each offense to run concurrently. He forfeited his job and will not be able to seek public employment in the future.
