Brian Pounds was a minister at First Assembly of God in Vernon, Texas. He was arrested in 2021 after the mother of a fifteen-year-old girl took her to the police where she reported that Pounds had been providing her with meth and sexually abusing her, including choking her one time.
Pounds was aware that the mother took her daughter to the police and threatened to kill himself. Police intervened and he was hospitalized and later arrested in July 2021. Police questioned Pounds’ wife who said she did not know of any other victims, however, during jail phone conversations that police reviewed, it became clear that there was another victim. They confronted his wife who provided the victim’s first name.
When police identified her, now 22 years old, she recounted a harrowing series of abuse that began when she was fifteen and continued two years. One time he put a gun to her head threatening her to keep her silent.
He pleaded guilty and in December, 2021, he was sentenced to 45 years in prison.
