824: Tom Horne

Tom Horne is currently the Arizona State Superintendent of Public Instruction. During his 2022 campaign, he defended hiring former Arizona Rep. David Stringer for his campaign. He didn’t just hire him and defend it, he made the false claim that Stringer was proven innocent.

He shared a wild story about corrupt cops framing Stringer. “He reported corrupt police officers. These police officers had a system for dealing with people who complained about them. They had a witness who would make the exact same charges against different people.”

After a few days, he bowed to public opinion and sent Stringer’s donation back and said he was not involved in the campaign, phrasing it as though he was never involved.
