322: Nick Sauer

Nonconsensual Dissemination of Private Sexual Images

Nick Sauer is a Republican politician who once served on the Lake County Board in Illinois and represented the 51st district in the Illinois House of Representatives. He was a member of the House Sexual Harassment and Discrimination Task Force. I guess they wanted to hear from the predator’s side. He decided to post nude pictures of his ex-girlfriend. He also confessed to catfishing using her nude pics. He resigned immediately.

321: Mark Halperin

Sexual Harassment

Mark Halperin was a conservative news reporter who worked for ABC, Bloomberg, MSNBC, NBC, and PBS. He now works for NewsMax, a newish news channel founded for people who think FOX is too liberal. His journey from legitimate, legacy media to fact-adverse NewsMax is the result of being accused of sexual harassment and forcible touching by over a dozen women.

320: Michael Moates

Sexual Harassment, Solicitation of a Minor

Michael Moates is a right-wing blogger/journalist who founded D.C. Chronicle, a site that is now, appropriately, a porn site. He sometimes wrote for the Washington Examiner. He also ran for Congress, as a Libertarian, not a Republican. However, he describes himself as a life-long Republican in his most recent Twitter account. He keeps getting suspended.

He had to withdraw his candidacy when he got suspended for sexually harassing underage teens. Several women came forward with messages he sent them. I won’t reproduce them here because he sued or filed a DMCA on everyone. He lost all his suits and DMCA filings, but I don’t want the bother. You can read them in the articles.

318: Frank Sapareto

Assault

Frank Sapareto was a New Hampshire Republican state representative. He was elected even though he was convicted of three counts of assault in 2013. An argument with his girlfriend’s son ended up with two charges of assaulting the girlfriend’s son and one charge for assaulting her daughter. He appealed the convictions but was unsuccessful. Ironically, he was named vice chairman of the House Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee.

Two years later, he was sued for assault, accused of beating up his collaborator in a porn video. He was the actor and was unhappy with the day’s filming. He was accused of breaking into the producer’s home and beating him into unconsciousness. He was hospitalized and the hospital documented severe injuries. Sapareto claimed thought he was filming a tourism video for Japanese tourist but the hours of video proved he was lying. He was removed from his committee vice chairmanship and lost re-election.

317: Graham Jorgensen

Stalking/Harassment

Graham Jorgensen is a Vancouver, WA, Proud Boys member. He is also been convicted of domestic abuse and stalking. He took a picture of his ex-girlfriend in a Proud Boys sweatshirt and sent it to her and after they broke up, he sent it to a local paper exposing her ties to extremism. She was fired and he bragged about it. It is not good to have a right-wing extremist serving as a deputy, but his actions were still abusive.

316: Tyler Smith

Child Indecency, Solicitation of a Minor, Uncategorized

Tyler Smith, a member of right-wing militia group Patriot Prayer, was featured in the reality show in Season 3, Episode 4 of Doomsday Preppers, a show that amplifies the paranoid, reactionary, and the radical right. His group is called The Marauders because they plan to steal their supplies. They showed him with firearms which led to his arrest for illegal possession of firearms. He is not eligible to have weapons because he is a convicted sex offender.

National Geographic didn’t mention he was a convicted child molester but they did show him saying he was an apex predator. Perhaps he meant sexual predator. Is molesting a 14-year-old girl apex?

315: Matthew “Deme” Cooper

Assault, Child Molestation, Uncategorized

Matthew Demetrius Cooper is a member of Patriot Prayer, one of the far right militia groups “standing by” to wage war on the United States. When he was in Virginia and was charged with two counts of raping a child. He skipped out and has been living in Washington. He comes to Portland as a leading member of Patriot Prayer, participating in the Cider Riot attack, and bragged on Twitter about beating a trans woman with a bat. He tweeted, “Sucks for your retarded comrade, we should’ve ended them instead of let them live. Next time I’ll make sure they don’t make to a hospital.”  He is identified as Deme Cooper in most news articles.

314: Scott Paul Beierle

Murder, Sexual Assault

Scott Beierle was a member of FSU Republicans and the Facebook group We Are Conservatives. He also was an open misogynist and racist who posted hate-filled videos on YouTube ranting against women and interracial marriage. He admired Elliot Rodger, the man who killed six and wounded fourteen in California. He was forty years old and ranting about girls who slighted him in eighth grade to the present.

He was fired as a substitute teacher for inappropriately touching a middle school girl. There were regullar complaints about him being creepy.

Before he entered a Florida yoga studio and killed two people and wounded four, he was arrested for groping women and prosecutors dropped the charges.

313: Devon Mathis

Sexual Harassment

Devon Mathis is a Republican Assemblyman in California, representing a California Central Valley district. He has faced scrutiny a few times. He was accused of assaulting a woman but the Sacramento police were unable to substantiate the charges. The blogger who first broke the story claimed the police did not contact him and that the woman was not interviewed by the police.

At the same time, he was accused of creating a hostile workplace for women, including sexual harassment and what the investigators called “locker room talk.” He was censured by the California Assembly for that and required to take remedial training. After the allegations made by a resigning staff member went public, a former chief of staff who quit two years earlier sent a letter to the Assembly Rules committee with similar allegations and confirming the hostile work environment.
